Title
The NELGA Expert group meeting brings together 7 member institutions across Africa that have been selected as NELGA Nodes. The Nodes have been supported to ensure better implementation and coordination of NELGA activities in the different African regions. Currently, the following regional Nodes have been selected: (1) Ardhi University in Tanzania for East Africa, (2) Namibia University of Science and Technology for Southern Africa, (3) Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana for West Africa, (4) University of Yaoundé 1 in Cameroun for Central Africa and (5) IAV Hassan II for North Africa. To meet both linguistic and thematic needs, two special nodes have also been selected. These are St Louis, Gaston Berger in Senegal to coordinate the French speaking countries in West Africa and University of Western Cape (PLAAS) to handle specific land related thematic areas. The Nodes will be joined by other partners with ongoing engagements in NELGA; and the staff of the ALPC, GIZ and World bank.
The specific objectives of the meeting are to:
- Update partners on progress made in the implementation of the Work plans of the NELGA partners to identify synergies and learn from experiences
- Update partners on the decisions of the last ALPC-SC on NELGA
- Share progress on the development of the NELGA Communication and Knowledge Management tools i.e. Website, Journal & Data Repository
The expected Outcomes are: -
- Roles and Responsibilities of the NELGA partners revisited and agreed upon
- Progress on the development of the Communication and Knowledge Management tools of NELGA discussed
- Implications of the ALPC-SC decisions discussed and way forward agreed upon
The meeting convenes that NELGA Nodes, ALPC, GIZ, World Bank and other partners with ongoing engagements for one day’s meeting to discuss progress and way forward on NELGA administrative issues.
