The Lilongwe capacity-building workshop will be dedicated to the launch of the Development Account project at the national level. The project entitled "Strengthening of the capacity of African governments to negotiate transparent, equitable and sustainable contracts in extractive industries (IE) for broad-based sustainable growth and socio-economic development" is implemented in five pilot countries: the Republic of Niger, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, the Republic of Malawi, the Republic of Congo and the Republic of Chad. 

 

The workshop will focus on contract negotiations and is being conducted by the African Mining Development Centre (AMDC) via the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
